Murano Heritage X Vogue

VOGUE sits down with Stefano Borendi, the visionary Brand Manager of Murano Heritage, a luxury jewellery house breathing new life into centuries-old Venetian craftsmanship.

VOGUE: Stefano, thank you for joining us. Murano Heritage has quickly become synonymous with elevated luxury and timeless artistry. What makes the brand so distinct?

Stefano Borendi: Thank you—it's a pleasure. At Murano Heritage, we’re not simply creating jewellery; we’re preserving a lineage. Our collections are rooted in the thousand-year-old glassmaking traditions of Murano Island. Every piece is handcrafted in Italy by master artisans who have inherited their skills through generations. The uniqueness of Murano glass, fused with gold and precious stones, gives each creation its own soul.

VOGUE: There's a clear reverence for history in your pieces. How do you balance that with modern luxury?

Stefano Borendi: That balance is everything. We honour traditional methods but reinterpret them through a contemporary lens—cleaner lines, bold silhouettes, and unexpected colour palettes. We see heritage not as a constraint, but as a canvas. Our clients—those who appreciate both story and style—feel that deeply.

VOGUE: The name Murano Heritage implies more than just a brand. It's almost philosophical.

Stefano Borendi: Exactly. We chose the word “heritage” deliberately. Our mission is to safeguard and elevate the art of Murano glassmaking, which is increasingly endangered by mass production. Every ring, necklace, or bracelet is a statement against the disposable. It's a commitment to art that lasts.

VOGUE: How do you think Murano Heritage fits into the global luxury conversation today?

Stefano Borendi: Luxury is shifting. It’s no longer just about price tags—it's about provenance, authenticity, and emotion. Murano Heritage speaks to the collector, the connoisseur, the romantic. We're not trend-chasers. We’re storytellers. And in an age of fast everything, that resonates more than ever.

VOGUE: And the storytelling certainly shows in your campaigns. They feel cinematic.

Stefano Borendi: Thank you. We collaborate closely with Italian photographers and directors to create that atmosphere. The play of light on glass, the drama of Venice, the quiet opulence—it’s all intentional. We want people to feel the magic before they even touch the piece.

VOGUE: What’s next for Murano Heritage?

Stefano Borendi: We're unveiling a new high jewellery line this autumn—pieces that push the boundaries of Murano craftsmanship. Think hand-blown miniature sculptures encased in fine gold settings. And there’s talk of an exclusive atelier experience in Venice, where clients can co-create pieces with our artisans. We’re always evolving, but with respect to our roots.

VOGUE: Stefano, it’s been a joy. Murano Heritage is more than jewellery—it’s an heirloom in the making.

Stefano Borendi: Grazie mille. We’re honoured to share our story with the VOGUE audience.
